The short version: Keyiddle does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. It has no internet connection. Nothing leaves your Mac.
What Keyiddle does
Keyiddle is a keyboard cleaning utility for macOS. When you start a cleaning session, it uses macOS Accessibility permission to intercept and suppress keyboard and mouse events for the duration you select (30, 60, or 90 seconds). This lets you physically clean your keyboard without accidentally triggering keystrokes.
What Keyiddle does not do
- No data collection. Keyiddle does not record, log, or store any keystrokes, mouse input, or personal information.
- No network access. Keyiddle makes no outbound or inbound network connections. It has no internet access of any kind.
- No analytics. There are no analytics frameworks, crash reporters, or telemetry systems in Keyiddle.
- No tracking. No advertising identifiers, device fingerprints, or usage tracking of any kind.
- No third-party SDKs. Keyiddle uses only Apple system frameworks.
- No cloud sync. All preferences are stored locally using macOS standard storage. Nothing is synced anywhere.
Accessibility permission
Keyiddle requests Accessibility permission from macOS to intercept keyboard and mouse events. This permission is used exclusively to suppress input during a cleaning session. Keyiddle does not:
- Read the content of keystrokes
- Monitor what keys are pressed
- Log or record any input events
- Use the permission for any purpose other than blocking input
The permission can be revoked at any time via System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Revoking the permission immediately prevents Keyiddle from operating.
Watchdog agent
Keyiddle includes a background agent (KeyiddleAgent) that monitors the main app and restores keyboard input in the event of an unexpected crash. This agent:
- Runs only when Keyiddle is installed and registered as a Login Item
- Communicates with the main app exclusively via local XPC on your Mac
- Does not access any personal data, files, or network resources
